The first horse tramway in Brussels opened in 1869, the 150th anniversary of this event was celebrated on 1st May 2019 with a parade of trams and works vehicles in the city centre. After the parade heritage trams operated on a route from Legrand to Sainte Marie via Place Louise, Rue de la Régence, Place Royale and Rue Royale/Konings Straat. Many of the trams in the parade took part in the heritage service plus other trams from the tram museum in Woluwe St. Pierre.Part 1 of this DVD features the parade and the heritage tram service. Part 2 features scenes from Brussels new tram route 9 which runs from Simonis to Arbre Ballon/Dikke Beuk which opened on 1st September 2018, the extension of route 8 from Woluwe St. Pierre to Roodebeek which opened on 29th September 2018 is also included in this chapter. Part 3 is a visit to the Schepdaal Vicinal Museum, Autorail AR193 was in service at this former Vicinal depot, and both steam and electric trams can be seen, several Vicinal electric trams from the museum were on display in Place Royale during the 150th anniversary celebrations and can be seen in part 1, a Vicinal steam tram can also be seen in part 1 operating on temporary tracks in Place Royale. Part 4 features recent developments in the tramway system in Antwerp including ex Gent PCC cars operating on route 12, new route 70, new tramway construction in the city centre and the newest trams in service, the Bombardier Flexity 'Albatros' introduced in 2015.
