The East End of London has probably seen more changes than any other part of London in the last 50 years. The area is now one of great contrasts with new developments alongside Victorian and Edwardian terraces with million pound apartments adjacent to social housing. These changes have been helped by the expansion of the rail network in the area, the bus network has grown to compliment the new lines and now provides a much denser network of services than there were 40 years ago. Today bus services in East London are provided by major companies such as Stagecoach, Arriva, and Go-Ahead, services are also provided by Tower Transit and Hackney Community Transport, trading as CT Plus.
This DVD takes a journey around East London starting at Aldgate and visiting Stepney, Wapping, Canary Wharf, Isle Of Dogs, Canning Town (where heritage bus operation can be seen), North Woolwich, Beckton, East Ham, Stratford, Bow, Mile End, Bethnal Green, Hackney, and Clapton. Many different types of bus can be seen in this video including New Routemasters on routes into central London.
