Description

Also featuring Trolley-coaches, the Subway and Scarborough Rapid Transit.

Disc 1 (53 minutes)
The first disc has extensive cover of the days when PCCs provided all journeys on Toronto's streetcar system. It was filmed between 1974 and 1978. Scenes of the former routes to Rogers Road and Eglington are included. Glimpses of the former trolley-coaches are also shown in a number of locations. The Belt Line tourist service, worked with Peter Witt cars is also seen.

A visit to Hillcrest Works shows PCCs undergoing repair and repainting.

On 24th September 1978 an extensive enthusiast's tour was held using large Peter Witt 2424, small Peter Witt 2766 and PCC 4500. This is covered extensively. During the tour, on a visit to St Clair car-house, the newly delivered Swiss built prototype Canadian Light Rail Vehicles, also known as CLRVs, were seen, and one was made available for rides around the site.

The subway is also featured, featuring the original red Gloucester built trains. We also take a ride on the then newly opened extension to Wilson. There are also scenes of CN, CP and GO Train activity, filmed fro the Bathurst bridge.

Disc 2 (70 minutes)
This disc was filmed between 1981 and 2007 using a mixture of sound cine film, Hi8 and DV video. In 1981 mixed operation of PCCs and CLRVs was the norm.

Another visit to the Subway shows the Gloucester built cars shunting at Davisville. They were finally withdrawn in 1990.

A short visit is made to the Halton County Radial Museum near Rockwood, to view some of the preserved Toronto streetcars in operation.

Video shot in 1994 shows refurbished PCCs operating on the Waterfront line. By this time the articulated LRVs had entered service and are seen in action on other routes.

At Kennedy a visit is made to the Scarborough Rapid Transit, now known as Subway line 3, for a journey to Scarborough Shopping Centre.

The final part, filmed in 2007, covers the Route from Union Station to Spadina Subway interchange station.
