Privacy Policy:
When you place an order online we collect your name, e-mail address, billing address (plus mailing address if different) and telephone number. We do not store any financial information - all payment details are taken on our payment provider's webistes (SagePay or PayPal). We record which products you purchase and may record other products you are interested in. We also monitor customer traffic patterns and site use which enables us to improve the service we provide. This information is used to process orders and to provide a more personal shopping experience. If you have any question regarding our privacy policy please contact us.
We may use this information to very occasionally tell you about important changes to our website.
If you do not wish to receive this information, please send us an email to sales@videoscene.co.uk.
We do not sell, trade or rent your personal information to other companies.
Security:
When you place orders or access your account information, you are connected to our secure server. The secure server software (SSL) encrypts all information you input before it is sent to us. Furthermore, all information is collected lawfully and in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1988.
Cookies:
Cookies are used by most websites. Without them our website wouldn't be able to remember basic information such as which items are in your shopping basket. The cookies we use are simple 'session id' cookies and they do not store sensitive information. Cookies allow you to make full use of our website - obviously you are free to disable cookies in your browser if you'd prefer, however without them Videoscene.co.uk will not function properly as an e-commerce website.
There is also a cookie provided by Globalsign - this is the security company who provide our SSL encryption service, used when you are on sensitive parts of the website (eg viewing your account data or placing an order).
Google Analytics Cookies:
Occasionally we use Google Analytics, to collect standard internet log information and details of visitor behaviour patterns. We do this to find out things such as the number of visitors to the various parts of the site. This information is only processed in a way which does not identify anyone.
YouTube Cookies:
Any web pages which include streaming video clips (eg our Railway TV page) will also include Cookies from YouTube.

Email Newsletter List:
As part of the registration process for our email newsletter, we collect your email address and automatically your IP address. We use that information for a couple of reasons: to tell you about stuff you’ve asked us to tell you about; to contact you if we need to obtain or provide additional information; to check our records are right and to check every now and then that you’re happy and satisfied.
You can unsubscribe from our mailing list at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link at the bottom of all our e-newsletters.
We don't rent or trade email lists with other organisations and businesses.
We use a third-party provider, MailChimp, to deliver our newsletter. We gather statistics around email opening and clicks using industry standard technologies to help us monitor and improve our e-newsletter. For more information, please see MailChimp’s privacy notice. You can unsubscribe to general mailings at any time of the day or night by clicking the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any of our emails or by emailing us at newsletter@videoscene.co.uk.
Catalogue Mailing List:
Four times a year we publish our DVD catalogue. We only mail these to Videoscene customers, ie people who have purchased items from our website, our Ebay shop, ordered over the phone or by mail-order and people who have contacted us directly to request a catalogue.
We keep our mailing list up-to-date by once a year removing customers who haven't purchased from us for some time (usually 12-18 months). By doing this we are complying with the GDPR direct mail data protection guidelines (these guidelines say that direct mail remains an 'opt-out' media where consent is not required but legitimate interest may be argued).
If at anytime you wish to stop receiving our new catalogue every 3 months, please email your name and address to: catalogue@videoscene.co.uk or contact us by phone on: 01253 738336 and request your name be removed from our mailing list - this will take immediate effect.
We do not sell, trade or rent your personal information to other companies.
