Description

‘Buster’ is the mascot of Bournemouth’s ‘Yellow Buses’ bus company.  The cartoon bear is used in advertising and promotions for the company.  This friendly character is used in a number of situations from promoting bus routes, places to visit and telling you what you can get from the ‘Yellow Buses’ mobile app!  A lovely little brochure was produced to promote the Summer Services for 2021 suggesting that ‘Adventures Awaits’ so the independent transport videos cameraman thought it would be a good idea to take ‘Buster’ up on his suggestions and film aboard two open-top routes and explore the New Forest!

Our ‘adventure’ begins at Mudeford, a small seaside town east of Bournemouth as we board open-top 5022 (YBZ 949) a Wright Eclipse Gemini bodied Volvo B7TL which was formally closed-top Abellio London’s 9062 (BX55 XNR) for the number 11 route to Bournemouth Pier.  The bus travels through Christchurch, Southbourne and Boscombe Pier to Bournemouth Pier.  You will almost feel the wind rushing through your hair as we ride along the lovely coastline, as well as viewing the passing buses.

For our second ‘adventure’ we begin our journey in Ringwood where we board closed top 5104 (BF15 KFE) a Wright Eclipse Gemini 3 bodied Volvo B5L for the delightful journey through the New Forest.  Passing through the green spaces of the forest we view the horses and cows enjoying the sunshine.  The bus drives through Burley, Bransgore and Highcliffe before reaching the pretty town of Christchurch.  We take the return journey to Ringwood admiring the sites of this lovely part of Hampshire.

Our third ‘adventure’ is on route 12 from Alum Chine to Boscombe Pier. Our journey begins onboard 5023 (YBZ 636), another Wright Eclipse Gemini bodied Volvo B7TL that was formally closed top in the Abellio London fleet as 9065 (BX55 XNU). Our journey takes us through Westbourne, The Triangle, Bournemouth Square and Bournemouth Pier to Boscombe Pier. On arrival we film some more open-top buses on both the 11 and 12 routes. Our return journey to Alum Chine is onboard 5024 (YBZ 233), a Wright Eclipse Gemini bodied Volvo B7TL, which was formally closed-top 9067 (BX55 XNW) again from the Abellio London fleet. ‘Buster’ was right – we really enjoyed our adventures - we hope that you do as well and don’t forget the sun cream! If you want to see more of the ‘Yellow Buses’ fleet in action – watch our companion DVD – ‘Bournemouth’s Yellow Buses – 2021’.
