From this collection we have chosen the finest moments when the lighting, weather and performance were at their best. It is not an exaggeration to say that many of the sequences are truly unique and unrepeatable.
The programme is a celebration of the outstanding beauty and dramatic nature of the Settle to Carlisle Railway, the highest main line in England where steam trains seem to complement the landscape.
In it we take the viewer's experience to new heights enabling you to watch in three modes: full commentary with train sounds and original theme music; train sounds and music; or just the wonderful train soundtracks on their own. In this way we hope to satisfy all needs so the DVD can be savoured over and over again.
This is what the Friends of the Settle to Carlisle Line said about this DVD:
'A compilation of superb photography of steam locomotives and music showing the S&C in all its moods and seasons. This DVD is outstanding. Smoke and steam as never before. Worth it alone for a sequence towards the start, showing a heavily laden train slithering to a heroic halt in Langcliffe Cutting amid snow and ice, sanding boxes frozen solid and helpless against the gradient. In a memorable final sequence, the sheep steal the scene - somehow just as it should be in the Yorkshire Dales.'
