The revival in diesel-hauled passenger trains continued throughout 2019 with the introduction of the new Mark 5 daytime and sleeper stock and TPE Class 68s. This title provides a review of what happened during the year.
Rhymney: Class 37s returned to the Rhymney line in the summer with Colas Rail Freight providing 37421 and privately owned 37418. Both locos are featured on a typical day including 37025.
Trans Pennine: The much delayed introduction of the Class 68-hauled Mk5 sets between Liverpool and Scarborough finally got underway in September. With two diagrams in the autumn, various trains are featured at Liverpool and York.
Chiltern: The Class 68s in the XHCE and XHVE pools continued working from London Marylebone. Action comes from Dorridge and Sollihull.
Wales: The Class 67 TfW sets continued on their regular diagrams in 2019 with one set on the Manchester - Holyhead circuit, the other out and back from Holyhead to Cardiff.
Anglia: The Class 37 top and tailed Short Set finished in September. A visit from the summer features 37407 and 37424.
Fife Circle: Class 68s also continued on commuter trains in to and out of Edinburgh each day. Both trains are featured.
Scottish Sleepers: In autumn, the new Mk5 sleepers commenced in the Highlands. See the last of the Mk3s with 73s and a few unusual locos hauling the new stock.
West of England sleeper: Footage of the Class 57 hauled Paddington - Penzance sleeper at Lostwithiel and Liskeard.
