By the mid 1970s the diesel and electric motive power fleet had been renumbered, with TOPS taking over, with the familiar Class categories. However, the fleet itself remained as varied as ever, with everything from ‘Westerns’ to ‘Deltics’ on main line services. This programme explores the network when loco hauled services still dominated.
