Description

Our second DVD presents rare, vintage footage of the golden age of steam. Carefully curated, take a step back in time and watch these forgotten films of Britain's railways brought to life in beautiful detail and expert narration. Watch with or without music.

West Lancashire Railways - 50 Years On
Still toiling in the 1960s, many types of steam locomotive work the rails spreading east of Southport across Lancashire's railways. We join them at Haydock Park, Chapel Street station, Butts Lane Junction,Lostock Hall shed and elsewhere seeing 44772, 44888, 70013 and 92218 amongst others.

Branches & Byways - The Cambrian Line
Take a mid 1960s cab ride on the charismatic Cambrian line and pass through famous locations such as Hookagate Exchange Sidings, Welshpool, Moat Lane Junction, Talerddig, Machynlleth, Dovey Junction and along the estuary to the coast itself at Aberdovey.

O2s on the Isle of Wight
The popular and strong little Victorian LSWR Adams class 02 0-4-4 tanks worked the lines to Ventnor and Cowes in the 1960s. Here we see members of that venerable class, including W14 'Fishbourne, W17 'Seaview, W29 'Alverstone' and W24 'Calbourne' in action at the now closed Newport, Cowes, Wroxhall and Ventnor stations.

Isle of Man - The Ailsa Years

Like their equivalents on the mainland, the Isle of Man Railways had been subject to closure in the 1960s but fortunately, in 1967, the Marquess of Ailsa stepped in and took them over. Here, sporting new liveries, are 11 'Maitland, 5 'Mona, MNR 4 'Caledonia, 12 'Hutchinson' and 10 'G H Wood' in this montage of scenes during that optimistic year.

Also featuring: Eastern Lines in the 1950s and Industrial Scotland.
