A tour of the famous northern summits in the 1960s. In the 1960s enthusiasts flocked in their hundreds to watch steam from the well known vantage points on the climbs to Shap, Ais Gill, plus many more.

This programme recreates that era using archive film from the 1960s. The legendary Cromford and High Peak Railway with freight and special workings...Copy Pit including excursion traffic... The climb from Oxenholme through Tebay and Scout Green and Shap including lineside scenes on the approach to the summit, at Garsdale and Ribblehead, Beattock, the Waverley Route, the West Highland Line in the days of working steam.

A wide variety of classes are featured including 9Fs, Royal Scots, Clans, Jubilees, Ivatt Tanks, Black 5s, Britannias, 8Fs, A4s, Crabs and J94s.
