A selection of archive films covering the whole county of Dorset, including the Swanage Branch, the Main Line out of Weymouth, the Portland Branch and the Weymouth Quay line, the Bridport Branch and the line north to Yeovil. Memories of steam operation in Dorset, from the branch lines to Swanage, Bridport and Portland, to the Weymouth Quay line, main lines and the Somerset & Dorset.
This dvd, made from rare cine films, sees footage of the great climb out of Weymouth towards Dorchester, one of the last strongholds of the Bulleid Pacifics before they were all withdrawn in July 1967.
We visit most other parts of the county, including the Somerset & Dorset line via a short cine film made by a local cine club. It has all the atmosphere of this legendary railway.
We see the last steam excursions from Maiden Newton to the Bridport branch and the final days of the branch with diesel railcars.
The line up from Dorchester to Yeovil is covered by film at Maiden Newton and some superb scenes near Yeovil Junction.
