
In October 2009 the Oldham Loop closed in preparation for conversion to a tramway.
In this programme we take a trip around the loop in the cab of a unit.
On the way we explore the line past and present using archive film of steam from the 1960s, plus diesel operations in the 1970s and 1980s.
The programme comprises:
A history of the line, its closure and conversion to a tramway.
The railway in the days of steam traction with a number of classes on passenger and freight including Black 5s, 'Crabs', 9Fs, Standard 2-6-2 tanks and LMS tanks.
The Oldham Loop in the 1970s and 1980s.
Views of the line in the days leading to closure with all the stations and lineside views.
