Description

Part two of this epic journey takes the viewer from Derby to Clapham Junction. Travelling via Leicester, Wellingborough and the Midland Main Line to Bedford we come under the wires and run deep into commuter-land.

The journey from here gets even more bizarre as this double-headed Class 37 hauled train and its rake of 18 loaded scrap wagons shares this busy part of the railway network with HSTs, Class 222 DMUs, Class 319 and 377 EMUs and commuter-packed stations.

Passing through Luton and St.Albans we change drivers at Hendon and opposite Cricklewood Depot we quietly slip away on the freight only Brent Curve Junction.

From here the scenery changes again with a slow crawl along this non-electrified section, passing the semaphore signals at Dudding Hill Junction, Neasden Junction and Kew East Junction.

Passing over the West Coast and Great Western Main Lines and through Acton Central, the sharp curve at New Kew Junction puts us thick into third rail-territory as we pass various Class 450, 455, 458 EMUs on their way to and from London Waterloo.

We approach Clapham Junction via platform 3 and take the underpass, emerging opposite Stewarts Lane depot and then to Wandsworth Road where this second part of the journey ends.

Filmed in 16:9 widescreen in fine weather with the full co-operation of DRS.

With live cab sounds, minimal narration and on-screen captions, there's a bonus 'thrash-cam' added, recording the Class 37s hard at work!

Presented as a double disc DVD - or single Blu-ray disc - the running time is just short of four hours.
