Filmed in April 2015, this is a cab ride on board BR green-liveried 31190 (D5613) from Loughborough Works to Chiltern's Wembley Depot. The move is a single DVT - 82302 - which had been on repair and was returning home.
Starting light engine at Derby there is brief footage towards Loughborough where we enter the works. Collecting our single coach we join the Midland Main Line and continue through Leicester and Kettering to Bedford. From Bedford we take the branch to Bletchley and then join the WCML. After a non-stop run to Wembley the train heads for Acton. Running around in Acton Yard, we take the freight only line to Neasden and the curve into the Chiltern depot. After uncoupling, the 31 returns light engine to Willesden Freight Terminal.
Filmed on a fine day with the full assistance of DC Rail, the entire journey is shown. This was one of 31190s final workings prior to withdrawal. A special ‘thrash cam’ in the back cab records the locomotive in full effect. Part narration, on-screen captions and maps.
