Description

AVAILABLE TO PRE-ORDER, THIS TITLE IS DUE FOR RELEASE EARLY NOVEMBER 2024.

Guide Bridge to Crewe Basford Hall Yard via Denton, Stockport and Crewe Independent Lines

At just five miles in length, the line from Heaton Norris to Guide Bridge is a curious survivor of a once larger network of lines around the south east area of Greater Manchester, serving lines to/from the Pennines.  It's not quite a freight-only line as there are (sometimes) Saturdays only passenger trains which call at the intermediate stations of Denton and Reddish South, but in more recent times, the line has provided an alternative Manchester-avoiding route for biomass, stone and waste trains.

Our cab ride is on board 37405, a loco owned and operated by HNRC but on long term hire to Colas for odd-jobs and engineers duties. This is one of them, hauling a crane which has come off maintenance at Guide Bridge and is heading back to Basford Hall Yard for its next duty.

The full journey is shown from the Freightliner facility at Guide Bridge, right through to Basford Hall yard, using the Manchester
Independent lines, passing underneath Crewe.

Plus - as BONUS FOOTAGE - for those who like freight-curves, the outward light engine move from Coleham, taking the very rare curve from the Nantwich direction to the Independent lines at Crewe and, heading back light - the Basford Hall Yard curves towards Nantwich.

Includes maps, on-screen captions and minimal narration. A thrash cam in the back cab records the loco at work and ambient sounds.
