Description

The headcode of 6Z92 may not be the most recognised headcode of 2010 but the 09.20 Fridays only scrap train from Stockton to Sheerness may well have been the freight flow of the year.

Operated by DRS and using a pair of Class 37s the train took an adventurous and remarkable route along the East Coast Main Line to York then Barrow Hill, Derby, Leicester to the Midland Main Line through to Luton and Hendon then Clapham Junction and deep into third rail country to Gillingham and finally Sheerness.

With a journey time of just short of 12 hours and 18 loaded scrap wagons in tow, the variety of different classes of unit and loco that pass the train is remarkable!

From the humble Class 142, 158 and 185 DMUs to the Class 91s and HSTs through to Class 222s, Class 319s, 455s and other EMU types plus various freight, this really is an incredible journey.

Filmed in 16:9 widescreen in fine weather and with the full co-operation of DRS, the first part of this cab ride takes the viewer from Stockton to Derby, travelling via Eaglescliffe, Thirsk, York, Colton Junction, Milford Junction, Moorthorpe, Barrow Hill and Chesterfield.

With live cab sounds, minimal narration and on-screen captions, there's a bonus 'thrash-cam' added, recording the Class 37s hard at work!

Presented as a double disc DVD - or single Blu-ray disc - the running time is three hours.
