Part two of our 3rd October 1990 cab ride covers the northern section of the prettiest provincial route in the country, 'probably'.
The 85 mile stretch of line from Barrow-in-Furness to Carlisle features twenty four intermediate stations although only five are booked stops.
We filmed aboard a Heaton-based Class 108 Derby lightweight unit numbers 53958 and 54227.
These DMUs are specific motive power for the route and feature bars on the windows to prevent passengers from leaning out on the limited clearance northern section.
The industrial scenes of Workington contrast with the beauty of the Braystones section of coastline.
Please note there is no formal commentary other than cab conversations which are not always audible above locomotive sounds.
