Description

Two world-famous Swiss railway lines on one double DVD!

The Albula Railway from St. Moritz to Chur is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful railway routes in Switzerland. The highlight of this railway line is the Landwasser Viaduct near Filisur.

The Bernina Railway from St. Moritz to Tirano and the Albula Railway were included in the UNESCO World Heritage in 2010. The train not only traverses a beautiful high alpine region but also leads through different seasons. The most exciting time is certainly early summer. The mood in the Engadine is still spring-like, on the Bernina Pass it is still wintry and summer has already arrived in Tirano. We ride the line in autumn and experience a colourful landscape.

• Disc 1: St. Moritz - Chur

Starting in 2010, Andrew Perren, together with his film partner Daniel Felix, set about on an ambitious project to film ALL the railway lines of Switzerland! This had not been done before, and the plan was to shoot them all from the cab (footplate or drivers-eye-view) and release them on DVD and Blu-ray. A decade later 44 titles have been released, with a further nine to complete over the next 2-3 years.

In addition to the well-known main lines in the country, the duo has filmed museum lines, freight-only lines, some very special lines and some closed and abandoned lines. Contacting more than 50 railway-companies for permission to film, this is not a full-time job, just a hobby and Daniel currently works full time for the Swiss National Television.

These titles range from the well-known Gotthard line to some of Switzerland's most scenic and breathtaking railways. So, whether you're a seasoned traveller or just fancy something a bit different, we hope these titles prove popular and enjoyable.
