This Cab Ride was recorded from the cab of a Virgin Trains 220 unit which was travelling from Derby to Swansea.
We join the journey at Birmingham New Street where we departed at 08.42 on Monday 12th May 2003. We head out of Birmingham towards the south west and take the route which uses the downward incline at Lickey before progressing to Cheltenham, our first station stop. From here we progress to Gloucester and skirt the western side of the Severn estuary through Lydney, Chepstow and on to Newport. Now in South Wales, we call at Cardiff, Bridgend and Neath before arrival at Swansea at 11.25. Look out for the many junctions and industrial lines associated with the steel industry at Llanwern and Port Talbot.
