Description

This was steam on the Deutsche Bundesbahn - Part 3

This DVD presents further unique film footage from the Ton Pruissen archive, shot on the famous “Rollbahn” between Bremen and Münster.

The footage by the Dutch railway film pioneer was shot in various locations including Dreye, Kirchweyhe, Diepholz, Drohne and Bohmte, at the Krebsburg level crossing near Ostercappeln, in Belm and Vehrte, as well as at the stations and locomotive depots in Osnabrück and Münster.

Landmarks such as the crossing of the Mittelland Canal and the Lengerich Tunnel are also captured on film. Impressive scenes show Franco-Crosti 2-10-0 locomotives of class 50.40 and the legendary streamlined “Black Swan” 10 001 in service.

This is railway classicism at its finest: all 1960s, almost no computerised locomotive numbers, almost no overhead lines – but plenty of telegraph masts!

As always, Ton Pruissen has scanned, edited and digitally restored the historical film footage using state-of-the-art technology, and has professionally added sound.
