Description

This four disc set features the following titles:

The Slam-door DC EMU Victoria to Ramsgate (& Dover Western Docks - Faversham) (AV411)
Filmed on location on the South Eastern from 1978 to 2004.

Section 1: Victoria - Swanley
We take the route of a Faversham stopping service running via Peckham, Catford, Bellingham and Ravensbourne before rejoining the main route at Shortlands. We continue onwards to Bromley South, Bickley, St Mary Cray and Swanley.

Section 2: Swanley - Rochester
Farningham Road, Longfield, Meopham and Sole Street are all visited on a rainy day. We see our service crossing the river to arrive at Rochester.

Section 3: Rochester - Sittingbourne
After watching services arriving and departing we visit Chatham, Gillingham, Rainham and Newington. On arrival at Sittingbourne we leave the main line journey for the start of the next section.

Section 4: Sheerness - Ramsgate
Our VEP set is waiting for departure at Sheerness-on-Sea. We travel through Queenborough and cross the lifting bridge at Swale. Returning to Sittingbourne we travel to Teynham. At Faversham the route via the coast is taken and we call at Whitstable, Herne Bay, Birchington-on-Sea, Margate, Broadstairs and Dumpton Park before terminating at Ramsgate.

Section 5: Dover Western Docks - Faversham
Travelling back in time to 1978 we see our first departure from Western Docks. From Dover Priory we visit every station on the route to Faversham, where this journey finishes.

Filmed on location on the South Eastern from 1986 to 2004.

Section 1: Ramsgate - Ashford
Departing Ramsgate we then visit Minster and Sturry on a service from Margate. At Canterbury West we join our return Victoria service calling at Chartham, Chilham and Wye before arriving at Ashford.

Section 2: Ashford – Maidstone East
A number of services are seen at Ashford before the next leg of our journey. We visit Charing, Lenham, Harrietsham, Hollingbourne, Bearsted and finally Maidstone East.

Section 3: Maidstone East - Swanley
After joining the stopping service we visit Barming, East Malling, West Malling, Borough Green & Wrotham and Kemsing. At Otford we join the line from Sevenoaks and we see services passing through Shoreham and Eynsford. At Swanley we rejoin the Rochester line (featured on AV411).

Section 4: Swanley – Victoria
We visit all stations to Shortlands (as AV411 but in reverse). From Shortlands we visit Beckenham Junction, Kent House, Penge East, Sydenham Hill, West Dulwich, Herne Hill and Wandsworth Road. A couple of slam-door services are seen arriving at Victoria where our main journey finishes.

Section 5: EPBs at Dartford
A short visit is made to Dartford to watch a number of EPBs arriving and departing the station while Sunday engineering work is taking place.

The Slam-door DC EMU Charing Cross to Ramsgate (& Folkstone Harbour) (AV413)
Filmed on location on the South Eastern from 1977 to 2004.

Section 1: Charing Cross - London Bridge
Firstly we see arrivals and departures over time at Charing Cross. Joining a service, we travel to Waterloo East then London Bridge.

Section 2: London Bridge - Tonbridge
Track workers at the end of London Bridge station are seen as services pass. After a short visit to New Cross we travel to Grove Park and from there onwards we see slam-door sets at every station en route to Tonbridge.

Section 3: Tonbridge - Ashford International
A number of movements are seen at Tonbridge before we depart for Paddock Wood. A quick side trip is made to Yalding and Wateringbury before our return. From Paddock Wood we visit all stations to Ashford. Again a number of movements are viewed over a period of time.

Section 4: Ashford - Dover - Ramsgate
Joining another 4CEP, we visit all stations to Folkestone then, running by the coast, to Dover Priory. After a unit shunt we continue via Martin Mill, Walmer, Deal and Sandwich before terminating at Ramsgate. (More movements appear on AV411.)

Section 5: Folkestone Harbour
Returning to 1977, we see a 13-car climb the route from the harbour. We also see a boat train race through Folkestone Central in 1979.

The Slam-door DC EMU Hastings to Cannon Street (AV414)
Filmed on location on the South Eastern from 1986 to 2004.

Section 1: Hastings - Tunbridge Wells
An ECS arrives from Ashford (via Tonbridge). After a couple of South Eastern departures we visit St Leonards Warrior Square and then visit each station on the journey to Tunbridge Wells.

Section 2: Tunbridge Wells - Tonbridge
Many arrivals and departure are seen before heading for High Brooms. On arrival at Tonbridge we take a side trip to Leigh and see a couple of services. Returning to Tonbridge we watch more movements.

Section 3: Tonbridge - Lewisham
On departing Tonbridge we visit all stations to Elmstead Woods. At Grove Park an EPB arrives and we see more of the same at Lewisham and then onto Blackheath as the EPB departs.

Section 4: Lewisham - Cannon Street
After Lewisham we visit New Cross and London Bridge. The arrival is by 455 set on Network SouthEast day. At Cannon Street we join a Sunday diverted service from Charing Cross and travel to London Bridge.

Section 5: Network SouthEast Day
All steam, diesel and electric activity at Cannon Street Network SouthEast Day on Sat 23 Aug 1986. Also a Class 455 visits Charing Cross. We finish with a short EPB journey from Tonbridge to Sevenoaks.
