Video 49 features a comprehensive round up of news and features from summer 2007.
This programme begins with the two major news stories from 2007: the scrapping of Twin car motor 677 and the departure of the Illuminated Hovertram.
677 is featured at various times during the scrapping process until just a shell remained.
On Tuesday 19th June, the Hovertram, 735, was loaded up and departed Blackpool for a new home in Scotland. See the loading process and then 735 on the former Lytham Road and Marton routes as it headed for the M55.
June 2007:
Due to overhead rewiring trams terminated at Little Bispham on Sunday 3rd. See some unusual moves and trams bunched together on the loop.
Vintage cars 40 and 66 worked enthusiasts specials on Wednesday 20th and both cars were allowed to perform some unusual moves. At Pleasure Beach, 40 came from Starr Gate and entered the outer loop on the spur track. At Little Bispham, car 66 - previously banned from this loop - made a very rare move over the spur and headed off north.
On 22nd June Boat car 602 made a brief and very rare appearance on the Pleasure Beach - Cleveleys timetabled service. The tram is filmed at Cleveleys and then Manchester Square where 645 took over.
Car 623 worked an enthusiasts tour to Fleetwood on the evening of Saturday 23rd June and the following day the Totally Transport event took place. See trams 66, 147, 304, 605 and 700 operating at the event.
July 2007:
Fleetwood Tram Sunday was held on 15th July. With a 'wartime' theme, cars 605, 623 and 700 are featured along with Stockport 5 and 147.
A whole host of new advert liveries are included on a busy Market Tuesday with footage from various locations in Fleetwood and along the line. See some odd Twin car moves at Thornton Gate and then in the late afternoon, Boat 602 is sent to Fleetwood to cover a missing service car.
August 2007:
Various footage of new advert liveries is included along with the sights and sounds of the Bank Holiday weekend. See the new 'Infusion' advert on 719, plus 711 goes all over yellow, and many more.
Western Train Report No.2:
The second in the series of reports on the restoration of the Illuminated Western Train looks at what happened in the summer, with 733 transferred to the Fitting Shop and 734 stripped in the Body Shop.
Time Traveller:
The man with the time machine pays tribute to trams 677 and 735 with footage of them from the last decade.
