Our Digitally Remastered Series are bigger, better and in stunning HD for the very first time! These are the original programmes which have been put through the upscale and remastering treatment with improvements to audio, colour balance, contrast and most of all - picture quality. Some of the trains featured here were never filmed in HD or in broadcast quality. Now, for the first time - you can enjoy just that!
During 2011 and into 2012 the Churnet Valley Railway continued its operations with Moorland & City Railways, running trains up the gradient to Cauldon Lowe on a monthly basis.
Our film begins in early 2011 with a 60th birthday celebration followed by a shareholders train to launch a new CVR share issue. This is to raise funds to purchase shares in Moorland and City Railways, and to improve catering facilities at Cheddleton Station.
Archive footage courtesy of B&R Videos is shown of the line to Cauldon Lowe from the 1960s.
Featured is the April War Weekend with the D-Day Darlings. We then look at the line from Froghall to Cauldon Lowe and the attractions of the route.
Take a ride on the footplate of Black 5 No. 44767 before the same locomotive is used on a photo charter.
Lastly, plenty of action at the Cauldon Lowe Steam Weekend in February 2012 which saw the new run-around loop in use for the first time.
