Privatbahnen im Kanton Zürich
On this DVD we introduce three railways around the city of Zürich. FB (Forchbahn) is a narrow gauge-line and runs from Esslingen to the SBB-station of Zürich Stadelhofen. The largest of the three railways is the SZU (Zürich-Sihltal-Uetliberg) with two lines. Both lines begin in the underground of the Zürich main station. We start in Sihlwald through the Sihltal to Zürich main station, the second line, the Uetliberg-line, is one of the steepest adhesion-line in Switzerland (without cog) up to the mountain of the Uetliberg. The third railway is the very short cog-railway in the city of Zürich (from Römerhof to Dolder).
The private railways in the canton of Zurich are very varied. The Forchbahn runs on the tram network in the city of Zurich. The Uetlibergbahn is the steepest standard gauge adhesion railway in Europe. The connecting route between the network of the Swiss Federal Railways and the Sihltal Zurich Uetliberg Bahn is not used by regular trains. Andreas Perren filmed this section of the route from the Churchill Arrow cab.
On this DVD there are two bonus tracks of the SZU (connecting line to the SBB-net and the abandoned route Sihlwald - Sihlbrugg).
