For our first cab ride in East Anglia, we travelled aboard Stratford's 'flagship', Class 47 No. 47581 'Great Eastern'? on one of the through trains over this route on Wednesday 8th March 1989.
These trains were due to be curtailed at the beginning of the summer 1989 timetables, to be replaced by Class 321 units as Cambridge, with a 47-hauled shuttle from there to King's Lynn.
We saw the line before electrification commenced beyond Cambridge and the journey features the wonderful array of semaphores around Ely, also due for destruction soon!
Please note there is no formal commentary other than cab conversations which are not always audible above locomotive sounds.
