Dramatic QJ steam action over JingPeng Pass in summer when the fields are green. Plus, Tangshan Steelworks and Coalmine SY operations. Changchun repair works. Big steam hard at work on the limits of adhesion.
China is perhaps the last place on earth where steam runs everyday freight and passenger trains. It is however declining rapidly becoming more confined to industrial sites and regional railways. The JiTong railway in Inner Mongolia is 100% steam operated over its 1000 Km length, including the famous JingPeng Pass. This film reviews the state of Chinese steam in 1999 and focuses on the double headed freights bringing coal, timber and oil to the people of China.
