Working our way through 121 hours of unused and unseen archive railway film, shot between 1981 and 1999; and all recorded with the original audio on tripod-mounted cameras.
Highlights of Volume 12 include:
Derbyshire & South Yorks: Class 45s on the Midland Main Line around Chesterfield, Clay Cross and Dore in 1982, working express train to/from St. Pancras.
Midlands: Wolverhampton and Bescot in the 1980s with a great selection of locos including 20s, 25s, 45s, 47s and 56s plus 40106 on an engineers train.
London: Footage from Paddington, Kings Cross and Waterloo from 1992 and 1986 with 50s, HSTs, 33s and various DC EMUs.
Welsh Marches: Shrewsbury, Hereford and Leominster with various freight and passenger workings in 1986/87.
Thames Valley: Oxford and Reading 1987 and 1989 with 47s and 50s plus Bubble car 55027 on a local service and 50007 in green.
North Wales: The popular location of Llandudno Junction features again with action from the early 1980s with 40s and 47s and lots of Mk I stock plus containers, and then right up to 1999 with 37403 'Ben Cruachan' in BR Green.
A Day at Birmingham Moor Street on 10-12-85: In the mid-1980s it was decided that the original Moor Street Terminus, dating from 1909, was to be closed, with plans for new platforms to re-connect it to a re-built Snow Hill Station. So, on a misty December day in 1985, the old station was filmed with the idea of capturing the bustle and routine of a typical day and scenes that were was soon to be history. Various Class 115 and 116 are featured.
So much more than just trains passing the camera!
