For Lisbon's trams, both 2024 & 2025 saw continued changes and disruption to the longstanding tram routes and the vehicles themselves. The delivery and entry into service of the 15 new 600-series CAF Urbos has transformed route 15E, while the original Articulados from the mid-1990s can still be seen. The traditional routes and their 4-wheel Remodelados continue as an attraction for Lisbon's many tourists, especially route 28E - and the queue to board at Martin Moniz is as big as ever!
This fourth programme in the series takes a detailed look at some of the lesser-seen aspects of Lisbon's trams, filmed 2023 - 2025.
Copro Santo Terminus: Under normal working, this is the terminus of route 25E while the 15E passes on the mainline. Due to further track subsidence in spring 2025, the line into the city centre was closed (again) which saw the 15E terminate at Cais do Sodre, the 18E extended to Corpo Santo and the 25E - already on diversion due to the Metro expansion - also terminate at Corpo Santo! On weekdays at this time, Corpo Santo was a 4-wheel hotspot with up to ten trams an hour arriving, doing a reverse triangle move and departing! Add the Hill Tour cars and it was a Lisbon tram heaven! A typical morning is featured.
Plus: A look at routes 18E & 24E, routes 12E & 28E at night, an hour at Cais do Sodre in winter, an 11-vehicle tram jam, lots of new advert liveries including adverts for the CAF trams for the first time, tram moves around Santo Amaro depot, 'plinthed' museum cars, city centre flat crossings and unusual moves/rare track and the former 15E terminus at Cruz Quebrada.
Preserved Lisbon trams: A look at cars 711, 715 and 730 in England.
