Between 1962 and 1992 suburban services from Marylebone to Aylesbury and Banbury were mostly provided by Class 115 DMUs which had replaced steam traction. This production was mostly filmed in the 1980s using live sound and gives extensive cover of both routes. Also featured are locomotive hauled services from Paddington to Banbury using Class 47s and 50s. The Guinness train is also seen at Park Royal. Later scenes show some carriages in Network South-East livery, as well as other DMU, which appeared towards the end. Class 165 Turbos replaced the last DMUs in 1992.
The route to Aylesbury shares tracks with the Metropolitan Line as far as Amersham, and un-refurbished 'A' stock is seen in a number of locations. Jubilee line 1972 MK 2 stock is also seen between West Hampstead and Wembley Park. Scrap 1938 stock and 'R' stock are seen as we pass Ruislip Depot, whilst Central line services were in the hands of 1962 stock.
Chiltern Railways worked the line between Princes Risborough and Aylesbury with Bubble cars between 2003 and 2017 and the final days of operation are seen. There are glimpses of the present-day scene with shots of Class 68 Chiltern Mainline trains and Class 165 and 168 turbos. Also included is a special train hauled by Class 33 D6515, 'Lt Jenny Lewis RN', with the London Underground 4TC set and two Class 20s in London Underground maroon livery at West Ruislip which ran on the 29th April 2018. It had visited the Buckinghamshire Railway Centre at Quainton Road. The Statutory Train which ran daily from Paddington to High Wycombe to keep the route open is also shown.
