This special edition of the Blackpool Tram DVD covers the spring months of 2010 including the commencement of the tram service at Easter, new liveries for 641 and 645 and enthusiast tours from the May Day weekend with Boat 604, Coronation 660, 672+682 and 675+685.
The spring of 2010 will be remembered for the beginning of the mass exodus of trams from Blackpool and it started with 712 in March and 623 and 702 in May. There is full coverage of the departure of these popular iconic trams as they leave Blackpool for their new homes.
Preparations for the 125th anniversary continues with work on Standard 143, Railcoach 279 and OMO 8 plus Brush car 632 gets a gleaming coat of 1970s style green and cream. Add to this a wonderful repaint for 703 into Sunderland red and cream and footage of the farewell journey of the tram prior to departure for Beamish.
The second report on the upgrade looks at the latest developments at both ends of the tramway with the new depot at Starr Gate, track relaying on New South Prom and the new tram lines in Lord Street in Fleetwood. Work gets underway on the tram stop platforms at key locations and new overhead wires are hung.
