No.31 in the Big Freight series is another three-hour edition, looking at freight flows countrywide. Once again, the variety in traction is varied, as to the different wagons and flows, serving the various railheads, yards and sidings. Class 69s are again on the agenda with more colourful liveries and many different flows and locos are featured.
This edition includes:
Five Yards: Part Two: Toton: Our second freight yard in this series is the vast complex of Toton, complete with its diesel depot. Although reduced in size in recent years and more famous for stored Class 60s, the area is a massive railhead located on a freight-only line. A typical day is featured with trains to/from the yard and depot as well as those passing by, with stunning aerial footage on what was a glorious summer's day.
Dewsbury Cement: A visit to the terminal which has a stone and cement facility and 70809 arriving with a train of stone, splitting, off loading, shunting and departing.
Heaton Norris - Guide Bridge: A look at the (almost) freight only line which links Stockport and Heaton Norris to Guide Bridge via Denton. It's a short branch with a mixture of single, double and triple track running with biomass, stone and waste trains providing the action, plus engineers' trains.
Scotland: As part of a new deal to service and maintain snowploughs and associated winter trains, Colas gathered various wagons and coaches at the MOD base at Eastriggs in south west Scotland. From a new location, one such train is seen arriving with Class 37 and 56 locos. PLUS a huge engineering job on the West Highland Line with numerous locos and unusual moves.
Derby Forever: Here at Big Freight we do love the location of Derby! We're back again for another traction feast, filmed around Stenson Junction and other locations and it's non stop action: 37s to 70s and much more in between!
FM Hotspots: A visit to some of the popular Freightmaster Hotspots including a multi-traction day at Cossington, 70s galore around Basingstoke, Biomass at Edge Lane Junction, Liverpool, plus WCML action at Bescot and the Trent Valley and Sutton Park.
Plus: Class 37 IM train to Headbolt Lane, RHTT 2024 and an unusual day out at Eccles and Weaste with 56090.
