This cab ride was recorded on 2nd August 1988 on the 09.05 train from Aberdeen to Inverness, aboard 47515 'Night Mail' (allocated to Old Oak Common!).

The route is that of the Great North of Scotland Railway as far as Keith and the Highland Railway from there to Inverness.

Any fascinating semaphore signals remained, but these would be gone soon as part of the Inverness re-signalling scheme and the loco-hauled trains are replaced by Sprinters.

We are indebted to the crew for their hospitality and anecdotes.
