Description

When the Southern Pacific decided to dieselise, it planned this thoroughly, doing it division by division, with the best and most modern of the steam fleet being concentrated on the San Francisco Peninsula and, in particular, the heavy commuter traffic out as far as San Jose.

So take a time machine to the early 1950s and watch Pacifics and Mountains, some still in ‘Daylight’ colours, as they roar out of San Francisco at three-minute intervals. Plus there are Cab-Forward articulateds still at work on freights - it is action all the way!

This was the last concentrated steam show in America, and steam bowed out in considerable style as can be seen in this DVD.
