The Talyllyn Railway is the world's first preserved railway, saved in 1951 when a group of enthusiasts refused to let it be dismantled, they managed to convince the owners to let them take it over.
The Talyllyn Railway was originally built in 1865 to transport slate from the quarry at Bryn Eglws to Tywyn Wharf transhipment sidings.Unique through having all the original carriages and locomotives still in use, the Talyllyn is one of Britain's premier preserved railways.
The journey from Tywyn Wharf Station takes the traveller from the coast to the deepest forest in the Nant Gwernol Gorge through some of the finest scenery in Wales.
This film covers all the railway and its history.
