Due to popular demand the Rail Rover UK series is back and this time we visit the West Coast hotspot of Preston. Split into two parts, this first DVD looks at the years 1994 to 1999.
Starting off 21 years ago in the summer in 1994 with a very different and traditional railway to the one we know today. Loco hauled trains are still dominant as well as loco changes, a variety of engineers trains and long-gone freight flows.
Class 31s and 37s dominate the Club trains from Blackpool to Liverpool and Manchester. HSTs in the Inter City livery work for Cross Country with Class 86/2s and 47/8s changing engines hauling Mk2 coaches.
Class 87s and 90s operate the Euston - Glasgow service, Class 101 DMUs are frequent and many early second generation DMUs still carry their original liveries.
RES Class 47s shunt coaches in the parcels platforms and Class 37s haul trains up from the docks branch.
Classes featured include: 20, 31, 37, 43, 47, 56, 60, 86, 87, 90, 92, 101, 142, 150, 153, 156 and 158.
