This is a cab ride on board 56104 from Derby to Grosmont, filmed on a fine sunny day in June 2015.

The recently refurbished and reinstated 56104 was on-hire to DC Rail and was taking locos to the North Yorkshire Moors Railway for their diesel gala. Having started out from Peterborough with 31271 and 47596 earlier in the day, we join the train at Derby and go forward to Barrow Hill, entering the depot and collecting 45060.

With the train reformed, the four loco convoy heads north passing Masborough, Swinton, Milford Sidings and Colton Junction, and to York, taking the station avoiding lines. Picking up the action at Longlands Junction (Northallerton) we go forward to Eaglescliffe, Thornaby, Middlesbrough and onto the single line to Nunthorpe. 56104 runs around its train at Battersby and continues along the very scenic branch to Glaisdale, Grosmont and the NYMR.

Passing a variety of passenger and freight trains, numerous signal boxes and semaphore signals, a special 'thrash cam' was located in the back cab at all times, recording the 56 hard at work. Recently refurbished, the engine sounds superb - both screaming and thumping!
