Description

Shipley was visited on 16 occasions between 1988 and 2012.

On Monday 3rd October 1988 the Mayor welcomes the first HST service from Bradford Forster Square to London Kings Cross. Local services are operated by classes: 101, 142, 144 & 156 and, after electrification, by 308 & 333. In 1989/90 Leeds to Carlisle services featured a loco-hauled variety of classes: 20, 37, 47 & 56. A couple of steam specials pass with Taw Valley & Blue Peter and more recently class 66s pass on freight.

Saltaire was visited on 4 occasions with classes: 144, 156, 158, 308 & 333 on passenger services and 66s on freight.

Shipley Glen is a short walk from Saltaire. The 20” gauge tramway is rope worked with a 1 in 7 gradient. It was first opened in 1895.
