A programme reliving the great days of diesel traction on the East Coast Main Line from Kings Cross starting in the 1950s, and taking the story through to recent years.
Highlights include 'Deltic' power from the prototype, through the 1960s to the last years of the class in BR service, through to the specials of the preservation era. Class 40s, 'Peaks', 'Baby Deltics', Class 31s, Class 47s and class 33s all feature to provide a portrait of the era of diesel haulage on this premier route.
Locations include: Kings Cross, Harringey, Wood Green, Potters Bar, Finsbury Park, Hadley Wood Stations and tunnels, Hatfield and York.
The programme comprises archive film taken from the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s with contemporary video from the 1990s.
