Description

Produced in conjunction with Freightmaster, the latest in the best-selling and highly-acclaimed Big Freight series takes the viewer from Southampton to Porthmadog and onto Edinburgh looking at a huge variety of freight flows, locos and liveries.

Southampton: A detailed look at the various operations at this important railhead with container trains serving Millbrook, Western Docks, Eastern Docks, Marchwood and the main facility at Maritime. Freightliner 66s and 70s feature with DB and Colas 66s included.

Cossington: An afternoon visit to this popular Midland Mainline Freightmaster hotspot with 11 freights in five hours including 66789 and 60047.

Cambrian 97s: 97302 has become the first of this sub-class to be overhauled and repainted. In a naming ceremony, along with 97304, the locos hauled an Officer's special from Shrewsbury to Porthmadog in April 2019. Footage starts behind-the-scenes at Coleham depot, preparing the locos. Includes a short cab ride plus the train crossing the spectacular Barmouth Bridge. Plus, Cambrian ballast trains with 97304, 37418 and 37099.

Niddrie West Junction: In the suburbs of Edinburgh, this isn’t such a well know freight location, but with engineering work on the up line between the West and South junctions, all freight has to use the down line, with a bizarre reverse move over a crossover! Amazingly, four freights and two Class 68 hauled ECS trains pass in less than two hours on a fine sunny day in May 2018!

66 Colours: Continuing on from Big Freight 20, a look at some of the latest repaints including Class 66s in 'Maritime' and 'Cemex'.

Preston PM: West Coast action from an interesting evening in January 2019. As well the familiar pairs of 86s and 90s, 68016+68017 pass with a flask train; 37425+37038 head north with two snowploughs and a problem with 86638+86605 results in an unusual run-round move!

Plus: 3-in-a-Row over the girder swing-bridge at Althorpe, 37099+56094 on a Merseyrail ballast job and brief action from the autumn 2018 RHTT season

• All sections are introduced with full commentary and maps.
• Filmed in 16:9 widescreen.
• So much more than just train after train running past the camera!
• This is all brand new footage, filmed 2018-2019. It has never been used before and is not available anywhere else – GUARANTEED.

Note: The feature on the Haydock Branch will now feature on Big Freight 22 - sorry.
