Class 88: The DRS Class 88 electro-diesels entered service during summer 2017. Various locos are featured on the Tesco train.
Whatley and Merehead Quarries: Marking the 30th anniversary of the Class 59s (in 2016), we continue our look at the trains these locomotives haul with visits to the two main stone loading terminals of Whatley and Merehead. Arrivals and departures are featured, with shunting and light engine moves.
Class 70: The second batch of Colas Rail Freight Class 70 locos entered service during 2017 and commenced work on a variety of new flows. Footage comes from Moorswater with the Thursdays-only cement train and the run-round at Liskeard; the Avonmouth - Aberthaw coal train is featured arriving and departing from Aberthaw and a sand train from Neath to Washwood Heath is featured at Briton Ferry, plus cement and oil trains in Scotland and the more familiar engineers' trains working off Westbury.
The Barrow Avoider: A brief look at the short section of freight-only line avoiding Barrow-in-Furness station. Only used a handful of times per week, Class 68 hauled flask trains are featured.
Scotland: Freight highlights from 2017 including the very first Class 56 hauled oil train on the West Highland Line plus DRS, Colas and Europhoenix Class 37s on ballast and IM trains.
Plus: Semaphores and freight trains at Lostwithiel with a China Clay train and loco run-round; the waste train to Knowsley with the token exchange at Rainford and to Boston and the steel train with the Class 09 move from the docks and the Class 56 arrival and departure.
