Description

The Welsh Highland Railway now extends southwards from Hafod y Llyn to Pont Croesor with the likelihood of reaching Porthmadog this winter.

We look at the section south of Rhyd Ddu featuring newly outshopped NGG16 No 138 in maroon, as well as sister NGG16 No. 87 in dark blue and K1, now fully lined out.

In May the Welsh Highland Heritage Railway held a gala with visiting locomotives 'Sragi No. 1' from Java, 'Montalban' from West Lancs and Andrew Barclay tank 'Gertrude' Superpower weekend saw the naming of newly built 'Lyd' at Beddgelert.

October 2010 saw the arrival amongst crowds of the first Welsh Highland train in Porthmadog from Caernarfon.

Recently photo charters on the line saw Taliesin and Palmerston on the WHR.
