Description

Our fifth DVD contains rare and previously unseen footage from steam's greatest era. Enjoy this journey back in time through evocative and detailed images illuminated with expert commentary. Watch with or without music.

The Talyllyn Railway
Our first excursion is to the famous Talyllyn Railway during its Centenary year in 1965, featuring some off-railway parades as well as the 'Centenarian' trains. Engine No's 1,2, 4 and 6 are featured in beautiful detail.

Southern Steam in the 1950s and 1960s

Our visit to the Southern Region in the 1950s and 60s includes some very rare glimpses of such joys as a Urie H16, SECR L class 4-4-0s and the unique 'Tunnel Railway' in Ramsgate. 'Gate Stock' takes us to Turnchapel behind (and in the cab of) an LSWR 02.

Branches & Byways Eastern & North Eastern
In the East some of the well-remembered lines in East Anglia and Northumberland are visited with such engines as C12s, B12s, G5s and J21s in action; locations include Stamford East, Spalding Town, North Walsham, Little Weighton, Barnard Castle, Stainmore and Tebay.

BR Standard Locomotive Classes

Our nearly comprehensive review of BR Standard classes even includes a Crosti (but not 'The Duke' sadly!). Examples of all the others are shown across the Regions on passenger and freight workings - and some of the variations in tender types used are also seen.

Also featuring: The Western in the 60s and Cambrian lines under the LMR.
