Opened in 1874, the line we know today as The Isle of Man Steam Railway runs from Douglas to Castletown and Port Erin - a distance of just over 15 miles. Snaefell Mountain Railway - The Official Souvenir DVD/Blu-ray

Built in 1895, the Snaefell Mountain Railway is a true Victorian enterprise, famously constructed in just seven months! Starting from Laxey the tram climbs to the summit of the only mountain on the island, 2034 feet above sea level. The journey of five miles includes gradients of up to 1 in 12 as the tram winds its way to the summit in 30 minutes. At the top, the passenger is treated to spectacular views of Mann, England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales! Four of the original trams from 1895 are still in regular service.

Manx Electric Railway - The Official Souvenir DVD/Blu-ray

2018 marks the 125th anniversary of the Manx Electric Railway. Opened in 1893 with a short two mile line from Douglas Derby Castle to Groudle it was extended to Laxey in 1894 and into Ramsey in 1899. Skirting the east coast of the island, passing many glens and with panoramic views of the Irish Sea, this 17.5 mile scenic railway is the only one of its kind in the world and is worked by open trams and trailers, all more than a century old. Cars 1 and 2 of 1893 are officially recognised as the oldest electric trams in the world still operating on their original line.
