This Cab Ride Xtra DVD is in the Scottish lowlands and features Class 20 motive power from Distillers MG sidings at Cameron Bridge via Thornton Junction, the Cardenden Circle, Inverkeithing, the Forth Bridge, Falkirk Grahamstown, Carmuirs, Coatbridge and into Mossend. The locomotives were 20165 formerly ‘Henry Pease’ and 20118 previously named ‘Saltburn by the Sea’. The 6GO’s Cameron Bridge to Thornton trip is immediately followed by the trip to Mossend, the 6D17, running approximately two hours early!
The locomotives were sponsored by Railfreight Distribution for use on Speedlink duties from Thornton Yard. Less than a week later the pair were withdrawn, the Class 20 once abundant north of the border ending its regular booked duties in Scotland. Lineside footage includes the morning outward trip departing Mossend, the Auchmuty trip working with ‘Provincial’ liveried 08761 squeezing it’s way down the branch to the Tullis Russell Paper Mill, shunting at Cameron Bridge, the shunt at Thornton Junction, a restart at North Queensferry and a run past at Carmuis. Special thanks go to the following: our crew Driver – John Keillor, Trainman – J Finnie, Inspector – George Rankine and of course Scotrail.
