The Cape Extravaganza tour ran through South Africa from Cape Town to visit many of the branch lines in the western Cape, including the lines to Ashton, Malmesbury, Berg River, Graafwater, Protem and Porterville.

Mixed trains were a feature especially with Class 26 'The Red Devil' and the GF Garratt to Berg River.

The train climbed Sir Lowry's Pass and the 1:40 incline from Bot River with double headed Garratts.
