The Mercedes-Benz Citaro articulated bus first entered service in London on route 207 in 2002. This was followed by 11 more routes in the years to 2008. On his election as Mayor of London in May 2008, Boris Johnson decreed that these buses were to be replaced by normal vehicles, the last bendybus running on route 207 in December 2011. These magnificent vehicles, legendary in their capacity to hoover up the crowds, were driven with great skill by London's bus drivers and operated on some of the busiest routes in the capital.
