A journey through the Post-War World of Working Steam starting just before Nationalisation and ending in the 1960s and the dying days of BR steam.
The Great Western Railway - 1947 in and around Newton Abbott. The station is explored with arrivals and departures including a Bulleid Pacific. The signalbox and signalling is also featured.
Through Central Wales. The climb to the summit at Talerdigg in 1966 with double headed British Railways Standard 4s. Includes trains on both approaches to the 700 foot summit. In addition steam is shown on the line around Machynlleth and along the coast along the Dyfi Estuary.
Yorkshire 1966. Steam around Wakefield with a variety of freight. 55D Royston shed with steam in around the depot including British Railway 9Fs, Black 5s and Stanier 8Fs. Includes heavy coal trains and loco movements.
The Cromford and High Peak Railway. J94 Saddle Tanks on the line including an enthusiast special with brake vans on the Hopton Incline. The rope worked 1 in 8 Middleton Incline is also included.
Scottish Specials. The Scottish Locomotive Societies Scottish Rambler tours in 1964 on the lines and branches around Edinburgh and Glasgow with motive power in the form of ‘Crab’ 42737, Standard Class 4 80118 and the celebrity North British 4-4-0 ‘Glen Douglas’. Also included freight traffic with a J38 and WD 2-8-0s.
Across the Pennines. The route across the Pennines via Stainmore with a Ivatt ‘Flying Pig’, DMUs and steam hauled holiday excursions.
The North East. A variety of steam power at work in the final days of North Eastern steam. Features a Jubilee, LNER Q6s, J27s, WD 2-8-0s, Austerity 0-6-0s and K1s on the lines through Sunderland and Hartlepool as well as the lines through Blyth and the Silksworth branch plus scenes at Newcastle Upon Tyne.
