Our Digitally Remastered Series are bigger, better and in stunning HD for the very first time! These are the original programmes which have been put through the upscale and remastering treatment with improvements to audio, colour balance, contrast and most of all - picture quality. Some of the trains featured here were never filmed in HD or in broadcast quality. Now, for the first time - you can enjoy just that!
This archive film from the period 1994-1997 was taken by Frank Tyler and his son Michael. They travelled widely in India recording the last days of steam on the mainline in many States. Frank was instrumental in saving YP Pacific No. 2151 for preservation when it was finally withdrawn. It now resides at Rewari. Frank still travels to India to visit the national collection and his many friends on Indian Railways. This film covers both metre gauge and broad gauge across large parts of India.
Bullet nose WP Pacifics in Delhi and at Saranapur, together with the WG freight design Mikados on the broad gauge. Plus the lightweight WL Pacifics at Ferozpur.
On the metre gauge there are YP Pacifics and YG Mikados on the Western Railway from Udaipur to Gujarat, plus Mandasor and MHOW. The same classes at Hubli on the South Central Railway, the North East Frontier Railway in Assam. Finally, the North Eastern Railway around Mau, Darbhanga, Narkatiaganj, Samastipur and Saharsa.
Also a quick look at Tipong Colliery and at the WG at Chunar Cement.
