Our Digitally Remastered Series are bigger, better and in stunning HD for the very first time! These are the original programmes which have been put through the upscale and remastering treatment with improvements to audio, colour balance, contrast and most of all - picture quality. Some of the trains featured here were never filmed in HD or in broadcast quality. Now, for the first time - you can enjoy just that!
Steam on the preserved lines in Australia focussed on the states of Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland, from 2'6" narrow gauge to 3'6" and 5'3" broad gauge.
This double disc production starts with the 2'6" gauge Puffing Billy Railway east of Melbourne and their unique NA Class 2-6-2 locomotives.
South of Melbourne is the 5'3" gauge Mornington Railway, a broad gauge line featuring K class 2-8-0 No. 163.
120 kilometres west lies the 3'6" Bellarine Peninsula Railway, a 3'6" gauge rural branch operating a Vulcan Ironworks 0-6-0ST amongst other locomotives from South and Western Australia.
The Victorian Goldfields Railway at Maldon is another 5'3" line and uses a K Class 2-8-0 on the line to Castlemaine.
In Queensland the Mary Valley Railway, a 3'6" gauge branchline, operates a C17 4-8-0 No 802, which we hire with a mixed train.
Then finally we continue to the Zig Zag Railway in the Blue Mountains west of Sydney with their own C17 No 934, plus BB18 Pacific No 1072 and Baltic tank No. 1049. Double and even triple headers with BB18, C17 and DD17 classes.
