The Britannias were the flagships of British Railways Standard Designs.
From 1951 to 1953 a total of 55 of this reliable and sturdy design entered traffic.

Showing the class in action around the country - including the Liverpool Street to Norwich line - on the 'Golden Arrow' - on the Western Region - in Scotland and throughout the London Midland region.
The Last Months:
With film of the class hard at work on passenger and freight traffic on the Settle & Carlisle and over Shap in 1967.
70013 is also featured during 1968 on specials in the North West.
